Davina Le Page married William Bird on the 13th August 2011. Davina approached me to create a bridal cuff bracelet that would really make an impact and compliment her ivory wedding dress detail of crystals and pearls and a matching smaller bracelet for her bridesmaid.
I knew straight away this was going to be an exciting project for me as I had not made anything like this before but loved the idea. I personally love chunky jewellery and loved the challenge of trying to replicate bracelets on a model in a picture of Davina’s wedding dress.
Davina wanted one bracelet bigger than the other so we decided on a 3 strand and a 5 strand version of the same bracelet using Swarovski Cream Rose Pearls and Crystals of varying sizes and shapes. We also thought it would be good to mix in some silver beads and use loop slide clasps which I hadn’t used before but was keen to try out.
The result is one of my favourite pieces of jewellery I have made to date and Davina was so chuffed when she picked them up as they were exactly what she wanted, which was great to hear.
Bridal and Bridesmaid Bracelets:
I learnt a lot doing this wedding commission including how to use loop slide clasps, how using a variety of shapes and sizes can really create a dramatic look and that cuff bracelets are a stunning way of accessorising a wedding dress if you want to make an impact. I am so pleased Davina asked me to do these for her and having the confidence in me to try out a new design.
Here are some pictures from their big day:
Finally I would like to congratulate Mr and Mrs Bird on their marriage and wish them all the best for the future.
Hope you have enjoyed viewing these designs and I would be happy to hear any comments.
