Catherine Hockey Wedding Commission

Catherine Hockey married Nick Boughay on the 7th April 2012. Catherine is a friend of mine who approached me to create earrings for her and her three bridesmaids and earrings and a bracelet for her mother.

As Catherine’s wedding was on the Easter weekend the theme was flowers so we knew straight away that the bridesmaid jewellery, whatever design, had to include a flower of some sort. Catherine is always so good at accessorising her outfits that I knew she would want things colour co-ordinated. The colour theme was colbalt blue and yellow so I sourced some Swarovski crystal aquamarine flower pendants to use as part of the bridesmaid earring design.

The bridesmaids weren’t going to be wearing necklaces so we opted for longer earrings so that they would make more of a statement. I decided to use Italian Chain and connect various beads of varying blue shades including the Swarovski crystal flowers.

Bridesmaid Earrings:

I haven’t been asked to make bridesmaid earrings based on chain so it was a nice change and meant I could have more freedom with the design and beads used. I was not sure if there were enough beads attached but when I saw the bridesmaids wearing them on the day, I realised it was just the right amount. They stood out but did not look heavy or cumbersome.

Bridal Earrings:

For Catherine’s earrings I knew it would have to be a design that would make a statement and involve something that sparkles. I sourced two Swarovski Tear-drop Pendants in Crystal AB measuring 24mm and Sterling Silver Tear Drop Pendant Caps. I connected these to Swarovski Crystal AB Bicones.

Catherine’s mother also wanted some jewellery made to match her outfit so we decided on Swarovski creamrose and powder green pearls and golden shadow bicone crystals.

Doing wedding jewellery for a friend is always a challenge as you can feel under more pressure and want them to be able to be honest with you and share any concerns. I enjoyed creating completely new designs for Catherine and loved trying out new beads and findings. I personally loved the chunky Swarovski bridal earrings and think they really suited Catherine’s outfit and picked up the light beautifully.

I will add some more photos of the jewellery being warn on the day as soon as they are available.

All that’s left to say is congratulations to Mr and Mrs Boughay on their marriage and I wish them all the best for the future.

Hope you have enjoyed viewing these designs and I would be happy to hear any comments.

Sarah Inder Wedding Commission

Sarah Inder married Nick Gibson on the 15th September 2011 and held a humanist ceremony on 17th September 2011. Sarah approached me to create jewellery for her and her four bridesmaids.

Sarah’s theme was sunflowers and her colour theme was ivory and chocolate brown so we thought that the bridesmaid jewellery, whatever design, had to include a flower of some sort. I sourced 12mm Swarovski Crystal Pearls that were just the right colour to match the bridesmaid dresses, vintaj findings and a matching flower charm to give the bracelets a more vintage feel which Sarah wanted.

Bridesmaid Bracelet:

I have made designs similar to these before but never used vintaj findings for bridesmaid bracelets so it made a nice change and really suits a more vintage style wedding.

I love it when a bride trusts me to make their own jewellery for the day as this is such an honour so when Sarah commissioned a matching bridal bracelet, necklace and headpiece, I was delighted. Sarah came prepared to our first meeting and had done some research on previous Pierrine wedding designs.

Taking inspiration from two designs I did last year Sarah picked bits she liked from each to make her very own unique designs. Sarah loved the irregularity in the shape of freshwater pearls, a heart toggle and of course a bit of bling so I created a floating bracelet for her using ivory freshwater pearls, Swarovski Bicone Crystals AB and a silver heart toggle.

Sarah also wanted a necklace to match and chose a two layered design:

To keep the theme throughout her wedding accessories, Sarah chose to also commission a co-ordinating bridal headpiece which would add a touch of sparkle to her hair style on the day as she was not wearing a veil.

Here are some pictures from the big day:

I love the way Sarah’s hairdresser has interwoven the headpiece into her hairstyle:

I think all three Pierrine pieces worked so well together and really complimented Sarah’s ivory wedding dress.

All that’s left to say is congratulations to Mr and Mrs Gibson on their marriage and I wish them all the best for the future.

Hope you have enjoyed viewing these designs and I would be happy to hear any comments.

Lucy Le Pelley – Wedding Commission

Lucy Le Pelley married Adam Ogier on the 19th August 2011. Lucy approached me to create bracelets for her two flower girls and necklaces for her three bridesmaids.

Lucy’s theme was interlocking hearts (2 hearts becoming 1) and her colour theme was ivory and pink so we thought that the jewellery, whatever design, had to include a heart charm of some sort. Having sourced light pink 8mm pearls that matched the sash on the bridesmaids’ outfits, Lucy chose a simple necklace design adorned with an interlocking silver charm hanging from the middle.

Bridesmaid Necklace:

We wanted the bracelets for the flower girls to match using the same light pink pearls in a smaller size of 6mm and a heart charm. So I made simple matching elasticated bracelets for them in different wrist sizes.

Flower girl Bracelets:

Lucy has kindly provided me with pictures of the jewellery being worn on the day and seeing these, I really can see how the designs suited the dresses and colours so am very happy.

I have made designs similar to these before but never used smaller 8mm and 6mm beads for them and really like the look these give. It has definitely inspired me to create bracelet designs using smaller beads with charms so that the individual could wear several at once creating their own combination.

I would like to congratulate Mr and Mrs Ogier on their marriage and wish them all the best for the future.

Hope you have enjoyed viewing these designs and I would be happy to hear any comments.

Nicole Humphries – Wedding Commission

Nicole Humphries married Andy Holmes on the 16th July 2011 and I was delighted to be approached by Nicole to make some jewellery for her bridesmaids to wear on the big day.

Nicole lives in the UK now so offered her two local bridesmaids the opportunity to meet with me and discuss their ideas. Their dresses were going to be a deep purple so with purple shoes so I suggested using ivory beads to make a classic contrast rather than go for more purple. The bridesmaids loved the Pierrine Initial Charm Bracelets and thought that Nicole would find these a suitable accessory for their dresses. These seem to be very popular and are soon becoming my bestseller!

I contacted Nicole to let her know what we were thinking and she was happy and trusted her bridesmaids to make the right choice so the bracelets were made and given to the bridesmaids. Poor Nicole didn’t get to see them for herself until a few days before the wedding, but thankfully she liked what she saw!

Bridesmaid Bracelet - Cream Rose Swarovski Pearls with 'A' Initial Charm.

Bridesmaid Bracelet - Cream Rose Swarovski Pearls with 'L' Initial Charm.

Bridesmaid Bracelet - Cream Rose Swarovski Pearls with 'K' Initial Charm and matching earrings.

I always make sure my jewellery is nicely packaged up so that brides don’t have to worry about wrapping them or anything.

Bridesmaid Bracelet and Earrings Boxed Up

We decided to not make matching necklaces as their dresses had a detailed side strap and there would be enough going on around their necks. We did however feel that some simple matching earrings would go well.

Bridesmaid Earrings:

I always love it when a friend asks me to design jewellery for their special day, especially when I get to attend the wedding and see first hand how everything has come together. I am therefore very pleased to be able to share with you this picture of the bridesmaids on the day outside the church wearing their bracelets and earrings.

I am so glad we decided to use Swarovski Cream Rose pearls rather than finding a purple to match as the ivory really contrasted well against the purple and obviously match the bride’s outfit too!

I would like to congratulate Mr and Mrs Holmes on their marriage and wish them all the best for the future.

Jenna Ward – Wedding Commission

Jenna Ward married James Littlewood on the 21st May 2011, so sorry for the delay in putting these pictures up on the blog but it has been a busy month.

Jenna approached me to make her bridesmaids and flower girls some bracelets. Their dresses were a stunning deep purple so we decided to opt for a classic cream rose Swarovski crystal pearl. She loved the initial pearl bracelets I had made last year for another client so we decided to just keep it simple and do the same as she loved the chunky 12mm pearls used.

Bridesmaid Bracelets with Initial Charms:

Bridesmaid Bracelet with 'V' initial

Bridesmaid Bracelet with 'L' initial

However, I also had the delight of making some really cute smaller versions for her flower girls who were three and eight years old in a smaller 10mm pearl.

Flower girl Bracelets with Initial Charms:

Flowergirl Bracelet with 'E' initial

Flowergirl Bracelet with 'J' initial

I had a last minute request from Jenna to make some simple matching drop earrings for her bridesmaids and I was happy to come to the rescue.

Once I have obtained an image of the bridesmaids and flower girls on the day I will add it to this blog post to share with you all.

I would like to congratulate Mr and Mrs Littlewood on their marriage and wish them all the best for the future.

Exclusive Pierrine Designs – Bella Spa

I was delighted to be approached by Hayley Fox to provide the ‘Bella Spa‘ in Guernsey with an exclusive range of Pierrine jewellery designs to stock in the Bella Boutique.

Hayley asked me to design a bracelet for her daughter a few months ago and was so delighted with it that she saw an opportunity for me to design some new jewellery which could be sold exclusively through her shop when it opened. I was given an idea of the Spa’s potential clientele and the type of jewellery Hayley liked and would want to stock in the shop and came up with a few initial designs to see how they will be received.

Bella Spa opened this week and I was invited to the Opening Evening last night and I was quietly proud to see my jewellery on their shelves. I am in the process of making more designs and feel this is the beginning of something special for me. Since starting Pierrine in 2009, I have always wanted to stock my jewellery in a shop but was keen to find the right place where the designs would be seen at their best and be marketed to suitable potential buyers. Bella Spa seems the perfect answer for my Bella Bracelets:

My mother’s first Pierrine Gift

Yes I know I can’t believe it has taken me a whole year to make something for my mother but because she has such classy taste I was almost nervous to do something for her! It was her birthday yesterday so I took the plunge and made her a Striking Chunky Necklace.

Her favourite colour is yellow so I definitely wanted to include this colour and I know she finds trigger clasps hard to use so would need to have an easy to use fastening. I popped along to my local craft shop and found some beads I had not used before. They were black onyx and some flat rectangular yellow beads. I initially thought of just using the flat yellow beads but then when I saw the black oval beads I decided to mix them up with brass ball spacers to separate them.

The finished piece was quite different to anything I have done before but I feel it is a striking chunky piece of jewellery which hopefully she will get lots of compliments about. My mother loves the necklace and I noticed her stroking the flat beads after wearing it for a while. She said they were quite soothing and comforting to feel so hopefully she will feel soothed and comforted wearing it.

The necklace feels substantial when wearing it but not too heavy. I think it helps that the beads are flat and therefore lie flat against the neck. This was an easy necklace to put together but looks very effective.

I am now looking into making different variations of it so if you fancy buying this necklace for yourself or as a gift contact me at –
